Simio Jazz Trio – LIVE
To celebrate the release of their debut EP Delusional, a release party took place on September 22nd 2018. They played one set: Their whole EP with, in addition, 2 more songs.
This set was recorded live and has been made into a Live EP, capturing the live sound and energy of Simio Jazz Trio. In this Live EP, the diversity of their playing is displayed, as they did not only play their own compositions, but played tunes such as Beatrice and Nardis as well (Track 5). While playing these more traditional tunes, the group maintained its sound, making it you clear that you are listening to Simio Jazz Trio LIVE.
Sergio Abdoelrahman (Piano, 2001)
Sergio started playing piano at the age of 6. He studied classical compositions at first, until he turned 10 years old. He then applied for the School for Young Talent at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague where he got stimulated to develop himself in the world of jazz. Sergio was intrigued and continued exploring the world of jazz, studying the greats but simultaneously developing his own sound. He played with many musicians and won awards such as the Prinses Christina Concours 2012. Sergio is still developing himself but has a clear mindset: “Music is a language and a way to communicate without words.”
Cas Jiskoot (Bass, 1998)
Cas started studying the guitar at the age of 7. He soon got introduced to jazz and found interest in the instrument Bass. At the age of 12 he started studying the electric- and double bass. He soon became a well-known artist in the national jazz scene and played with major composers/musicians like Ben van Gelder, Peter Beets, Juraj Stanik and Joost van Schaik, to name a few. Besides his passion for music, he found interest in Physics and Math which he later began to study at the Delft University of Technology. Although it might not seem logical as of why he does this, he says: “These two passions balance each other out. They create structure, which lets me perform at my best at all times.”
Tim van Emmerloot (Drums, 2000)
Tim started drumming at the age of 9. He started out as a soul/funk drummer. Around the summer of 2017 he discovered the world of jazz. Tim applied for the School for Young Talent at the Royal Conservatory around September 2017, where he met Sergio Abdoelrahman. Tim started to develop his own sound and philosophies, which resulted in him venturing out independently, with support from endorsers Exclusive Drums and Diril Cymbals. To this day Tim is developing as a passionate composer/musician with a clear and simple vision: “Music should always be played from heart.”
